MLO 4: Research and Technology:
4.1. Students gain knowledge of appropriate research methodologies and are able to apply them in their studies.
4.2. Students use appropriate technologies in research and studies relative to Japanese language and culture.
4.3. Students collect, manage and analyze current and emerging technology-based resources to develop and produce their scholarly work.
This major learning outcome was covered under the courses a Japanese 403 pre-capstone and Japanese 404 advanced Japanese for presentational communication. The above subsections were covered under the creation of my capstone survey and final presentation. Every day I was in class I use my computer help me do things like writing documents, making PowerPoint’s, researching information, translation help, and of course mass communication which made it possible to survey Japanese college students from around the globe. The ability to use a computer in the the high speed internet age is akin to magic some 40 years ago. For me I found most challenging aspect of this major learning outcome was Google forms and other software acting up from time to time. However this was easily solved in the manner of different ways, as easily as myself stepping away from the computer, all the way to restarting the machine I'm crossing my fingers that everything will work fine, and it did. I am also grateful that for the first time I had to learn how to use spreadsheets and not just read them. Attached are some samples of my research conducted through Google forms online survey.
